Area of attention

In Open Fun Football schools everything is about educating children to be happy children with good friends and healthy lifestyles. Consequently the Open Fun Football Schools is not only about what is happening on the playground, about the results or directed on developing of talents. In contrary, we see football for children as a “whole” – what is happening on the playground, the coexistence in the club together with friends etc.

Correspondingly football for children and our Open Fun Football Schools is one complex whole with a mass of various lively parts mixed with each other. Correspondingly in order to be a good children's coach it is not sufficient that one can instruct a specific kick or set up an exiting drill.

In order to understand, explain and focus our work and ideas, we use to operate within so-called "area of attention". An "area of attention" is a lively part of a “whole” – not an isolated part – that coach can take into consideration when organising training for children.

A good children's coach in that sense shall be especially vigilant about the three areas below:

Environment - By Open Fun Football School we use to say the it is the environment that connects children to the game. Consequently we give special attention on how to create one psychical and social environment - how to organise the arena so all children feel welcome and secure, and how to create a social environment where all children feel confident and respected and feel free to express themselves. Motivation - In Open Fun Football Schools we are using our fun football concept as a media, in order to PLAY and to LEARN. It is the balance between PLAYING and LEARNING that we would like to be recognizable upon, and because each kid should have the possibility to express and develop him- or herself through the game. That way it is important to recognize that the Open Fun Football Schools is not a foolish football game “wearing hat and blue sunglasses”. Open Fun Football Schools has to be fun, but also with a unique aim to provide the constructive coexistence both on and off the playground.

We are using the following sentence as guideline: we have to PLAY and we have to LEARN. But we should not PLAY in a way that we forget to LEARN. And we should not LEARN in a way that we forget to PLAY.

Fun Football - To us Fun Football is:
a)  for all children, no matter their gender, talent, skills or ethnic and social background.
b)  new and joyful ways of playing football, giving to participants the
chance to gain some new and rewarding experiences together with good friends.
