Penal Colony for Youth from Lipcani (Moldova)On Wednesday, 28 April, the “Open Fun Football School” team full of gifts and smiles departed to Lipcani district. This time the target visit was the penal colony for youth.
In spite of the long distance we had to travel covering more than 260 kilometers, our desire to meet those children eagerly waiting for gifts and souvenirs from the FA of Moldova and CCPA/OFFS enhanced enormously.
After 4 hours of driving, we got to that place and were very keen to get acquainted with those kids. Entrance to the institution is strictly controlled, the documents must be checked, mobile phones, sharp objects, photo/cameras are not allowed (we were given the approval to take some photos but only upon boys’ consent). The courtyard of the penal colony was deserted; the walls of the building were dark, all around laid a gray atmosphere, blue and dark green shades. Currently, there are about 150 convicted persons between the age of 14 and 18 and even up to 23 years old.
 When the boys saw us with a net with balls and a box with souvenirs smiles appeared on their faces. All the guys who took part in the match (a team arrived from the sports school and played against the team of convicts from Lipcani) had been already waiting for us on the football field dressed in tracksuits.
Many of the guys who were in the penal colony came from very poor and disadvantaged families. They have been excluded from schools and from society. But despite everything, there is a heart beat for them.
The match was organized by CCPA/OFFS Moldova assistant coordinators: CONUSEVICI Iurii and CEBAN Svetlana with the help of the penal colony administration.
